A non-profit organization
dedicated to the presentation and preservation
of Louisiana roots music. monthly, folks
gather to dance across the old wooden floor
to the strains of Cajun music. The hall
serves one other very important function.
On Saturday nights six times a year, in
the months of March, April, May, September,
October and November; the Town Hall becomes
a concert auditorium. The best old-time
country, bluegrass, traditional southern
gospel and other forms of traditional Louisiana
music played live, in its original form,
acoustically, without the aid of electric
amplifiers plugged into the guitars, mandolins,
fiddles, dobros and other instruments used
to provide the beautiful sounds that emanate
from the raised platform that serves as
the stage. The Abita Springs Opry is a series
of music concerts held six times a year
and is produced by a nonprofit organization,
Abita Opry Inc. The show has the mission
of preserving and presenting Louisiana "Roots"
music.
Banks
Street Bar - New Orleans - New Orleans
live music venue and neighborhood bar.
Birdies
Roadhouse - Varnado - The most authentic
road house in the country. Born from the
dreams, sweat, blood and tears of two of
the finest purveyors of live music in the
country. If walls could talk, those at Birdies
Roadhouse would have quite a story to tell.
A “gumbo” of music, friendship
and good times. During the Mardi Gras season
of 1982, Sandy and Sam, two classy bartenders
met. One, dressed in a toga draped in dripping
grapes, the other in a possessed “psycho
clown” costume. That chance meeting
began an ongoing partnership. After entertaining
Washington Parish, many parties, and many
costumes later, their dreams came true.
The land came first. A piece of property
on Highway 21, zoned for a club. Then the
house. A 1936 double shotgun house donated
by friends. Then , the Reverend E.J Williams(
aka Wild Bill and His Crazy Organ),who played
many years on Bourbon Street in his youth.
He moved her, he really moved her. Then
came the transformation: a long four months
of lots of hard work donated by friends
and family; lots of blood, sweat and beers.
Birdies Roadhouse: The little house with
THE BIG SOUND. Featuring good times all
the time.
Bombay
Club - New Orleans - the Bombay Club
is exactly the sort of place that many people
dream of enjoying in New Orleans but cannot

known for her music, food, and spirits,
has surprisingly few venues that offer a
high quality sampling of all three. One
of these rare places is The Bombay Club
, a lovely candlelit spot tucked away in
the heart of the French Quarter at 830 Conti
Street . Although the club is located just
a short half-block from the infamous Bourbon
Street , its ambiance is miles away.
